Breastfeed VS Formula Feed

A friend claimed her body is not producing enough milk for her daughter. I told her it's not true.

How do you know if there is "enough" milk for your baby? My answer is you will never know. Our breasts are not transparent for us to say there is not enough supply for the baby.

Just because your body produce a bit less than others, doesn't mean the milk is not enough for your baby. Comparing your amount with others is not right. Each body is different.

Talking mainly based on MY experience, our body will only produce milk when there is stimulant. What is a stimulant? It is a signal telling the brain to send signal to your breasts to produce milk. Who is the stimulant? It's your baby. NOT your pump! Why must we need the stimulant? To tell the body when we need the milk to be produced. Without the stimulant, body won't produce milk.

Some of you will start saying that it's a "supply and demand" process. Yes, it is true but let me remind you that the boobies need stimulant too!

My breastfeeding journey was not all easy. I had a big fight with my MIL at the beginning. She was concerned that my milk is not enough. That I didn't produce sufficient milk for my son and bla bla bla. I was really frustrated and had to shut her out. Talking about post-partum syndrome here.

Few days later, my breasts started to become so big. It was so heavy and big. I almost caught a fever. My nipples flushed and my son started to get cranky. He cried so loud and I didn't know what to do. I purposedly didn't buy any breast pump because I wanted to concentrate on direct feeding. I tried few remedies; wrap the breasts with cabbage, lather on tamarind juice on top and lastly wrap the breasts with hot towel. After a few trials, I gave up and borrowed my SIL's breast pump.

It was very challenging and painful. I had to deal with the pain from the stitches down below and pain from the engorgement. By that time, my nipple started to cracked. Both nipples were seriously sore. Another pain I had to endured. I cried every time I fed the baby until one time I just couldn't take it. My mother had to spoon fed my son because it was too painful. It took me around two weeks to get everything sorted out.

So you see, it really wasn't an easy start for me. Some people had a smooth journey while others don't. That's just something that only we, mothers can enjoy.

I'm not saying that by feeding your babies with formula, making you a bad mother. I'm telling you to try your very best to breastfeed your baby. Take charge of yourself. Don't give up. All mothers have the special ability to feed their babies so why surrender your baby to THE COW when you can give them the best milk of all? Just think about that.

What I've Been Up To

It has been almost 10 months since the day I said "I do". I now have a husband AND a son. life has been good and busy. I am currently busy with house works, feeding my son and making sure he smells good and his diaper is not full of poops.

Here are some photos from the outdoor photoshoot after the solemnization ceremony. All photos are unedited. The photoshoot was done around Desapark City. My outfit was done by Nisa Mazbar.

I got pregnant the next month and gave birth to my first child on March 26th at 10:29PM. His birth weight was 3.54kg and current weight is 5.8kg. It was indeed a battle. The experience really teach me something. The pain that I've never experienced before and cannot be described. It does makes me feel special. Thank God for the opportunity. Thank you to both my parents for everything they have done for me. Thank you to my husband for keeping up with me.

We name our first child Shakil Yusuf which means "Beautiful", "Pretty" or "Handsome". Both words mean the same so, double handsome! Hehehe!

All photos were taken during the first 12 hours from birth time. That's all for now. Thank you for your time, guys. I will try my best to update this blog from time to time. See you soon!

At Last...

It has been a very long time. So many things happened and to tell you the truth, I'm still digesting every single thing that had happened.

First of all, I took a big step in my life that I myself couldn't imagine doing it. I broke off with my 5 years boyfriend that I thought would take care of me for the rest of my life. Now, I know what 'JODOH' really means.

Secondly, after the disappointment, I fell in love with another man, with totally different personality and view. Again, not something that I would imagine will happen.

Guess what? We got married! Yes, I'm now a married woman with a ring on my finger.

Another surprise thing happened and I think most of you can guess it. I'm blessed with everything that happened.

No regrets! Only smile. So, at last the love story ended and another love story created. All is well, thanks to Allah.

Alhamdulillah.

Lilanz S/S 2012 China Fashion Week

I was impressed by this particular collection especially the suits. Very subtle but bold at the same time. I wish I could wear the dresses on my wedding. I like the simplicity. I love the stage layout.

Yang Itu, Jangan Tanya Saya!

I'm sorry to write this disappointing post but this is about your manners, courtesy and most importantly, your common sense.

I was trying to contact one of the clerks in my office yesterday when my boss answered the phone. To tell you the truth, I didn't mean to ask him the question but, what the heck? Might as well just try ask him cause he always drive every where he goes. May be, he knows the answer. No harm trying, right?

So, I asked him the question.
"Encik, berapa kilometer jarak North Port dari Carey eh?"
(What is the mileage from Carey to the North Port, sir?)

Guys, people always said that 'Respect is to be earned, not gain' and guess what? He just lost it. Yes, he lost the so called 'Respect' from me. Why, u ask? Let me tell you why.

Reason 1
When I asked that particular question, he answered,
"Itu jangan tanya saya!"
(Don't ask me!)

Reason 2
He is the Head of Department and from my point of view, it is NOT a mistake to ask your HOD about the mileage.

Reason 3
He is much much older than me. Therefore, he must have more experience compared to myself. He must know about courtesy and manners on how to answer a question.

Reason 5
He hung up on me. Yes, he hung up the phone without saying goodbye or anything. He hung up the phone just after he answered me rudely.

You see, I wouldn't mind if he knows the answer to my question or not but the way he said it and the lack of manners really pissed me off. He can just say that he doesn't know and ask me to call other colleagues because he was so busy and annoyed with me non-stop calling the office.

I was taken aback by him. I was not really pissed at first. The feeling was more to sadness. I felt really sad because a person so high can act so low. I just cannot accept what he did to me and I couldn't digest the situation yesterday. So many things came across my mind. I felt embarrassed by what he did.

So guys, please don't hang up the phone onto anybody. For me, personally, it is rude. Very rude. If you're busy or in a middle of something, just tell. Don't hang up.

Weathered Leather

I can't remember the last time I blogged. Thank you to those who are still reading my blog & my apologies for not being a good blogger.

As usual, as a working person I always blame my working life if I don't have enough time to socialize be it in real or online.

So, we are going to leave 2011 in a few days and hopefully most of us have accomplished our 2011 resolutions.

Today, I had a chance to spend some time with myself, indulge my 'appetite'. The best of today is I've found a place that can repair & restore worn out leather material.

As a beginning, I sent my mother's worn out, weathered envelope purse to be repaired by them. Hopefully it can last for another 30 years so that I will be able to pass it down to the next generation.
